I’ve had bad experiences with ppc, and my organic listings efforts aren’t working well right now. Would you suggest going with a professional?

Are you familiar with SmartGuy.com and if so what do you think of it?

Derron, one thing I can tell you is the internet is hands down the biggest return you can get for your advertising dollar if it’s done right. Shoe string budget or not, you should be marketing hard on the net.
Dennis, I’m somewhat familiar with Smartguy.com It seems to be a directory type website with a few bells and whistles. I caution you about spending large sums of money with sites like these. Some day they may pull good respones for cleaning companies. But more often than not I’ve heard they don’t.

I am setting up a blog. I have gone through your steps and I am stumped after creating the blog through Host Gator. I am now looking for the “settings” selection, page 4 of Module 8. Where is that?

How do you track whether the company that is doing your seo is working? Also pros and cons of doing google ad words yourself or using a company like reach local?

I am the owner of 1-800-rug-techs phone numer and 1800rugtech.com I was wondering if you would have an interest in marketing this with me? Either as a referal service or as something that your members could have exclusive access to.
Let me know
Thanks

Matt, the settings section will be a tab in the control panel. If you have a problem finding it, ask your question in the class Monday night.
How do you track if SEO is working? Really, the only thing you should be concerned with ultimately is if you’re making at least a 3-to-1 return for your advertising. But with SEO, you’ll need to give it 2-4 months before you can really tell if it is working. Did they give you any guarantees?
Len, email me at John@hitmanadvertising.com and we can talk about your proposal.

John, I am a new carpet cleaning company in my area and have tried adds in the local paper, advertising in two phone books and on line with super carpet cleaner.com with very little results. most calls come from the phone book and none came from the website. I am debating radio, tv or internet again. Can you push me in the right direction.

HI John,
What budjet would you suggest to test google adwords initially and what headline would you suggest to persuade people to click on to my site.

Charles, the internet is unquestionably something you should be doing. It can bring HUGE returns. However, unless you’re in a big city, you’ll have to have another method of marketing that works for you to stay busy. Yes, the newspaper does still work. Radio or TV can work, but it’s much more difficult.
Paul, I suggest setting your Adwords budget to $5 per day at first. Then increase it once it is profitable for you.

Hello John!
I am getting a truckmount put in my van as we speak. My question to you is, do you think it is a good idea to use valpack to start out or use vistaprint? I was thinking vistaprint even before I came across your email. Speaking of your email, thanks alot for the audio from your question and answere session, it helped me alot.
Please let me know what you think!

Hi Duane! You’re very welcome for the audio instructional. I typically don’t recommend valpak unless you are a company who charges cheaper prices. If your prices are on the low end, you may want to try it. If not, you’ll be better served with a good direct mail campaign targeted to high end neighborhoods. Shelly, your Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign might not be working well for a number of reasons. It may be the way you have the campaign set up, or it may be that your site isn’t selling once the surfer gets there. Email me and I can point you in the right direction.

How do I put logos and images on my blog (wordpress) page? I have searched around the help section and I can’t figure it out.
May 23rd, 2009 at 11:55 pm
To put it on your blog, you’ll need to upload it to your FTP first. Or, you can upload it to Facebook or another location that allows you to upload pics (Constant Contact works too). Then you give a link to where your picture is located. For instance, the pic in my blog post is really located at http://advertisingblogg.com/images/postcardnewsletter.jpg
